In short:

  1. Five brands share the female hormonal balance supplement shelf with opposite approaches: buds (HerbalGem), sage and chasteberry (Terravita), adaptogens (Jolly Mama), red clover and black cohosh (Nutri&Co), myo-inositol alone (Dynveo).
  2. HerbalGem offers a distinct formula for perimenopause, menopause and postmenopause, in capsules taken once a day, at 24.50 to 25.95 euros for 30 days.
  3. The monthly cost recorded on 11 October 2026 ranges from 7.95 euros to 55.20 euros, depending on formats and durations covered.
  4. Only vitamin B6 holds an authorised European claim on the regulation of hormonal activity, and black cohosh is the plant best recognised by the European Medicines Agency for hot flushes.

Why the life stage matters more than the brand

The single word “hormonal” covers situations that have little in common. A 28-year-old woman with an irregular cycle, a 47-year-old whose periods are spacing out and a woman two years past menopause are not looking for the same formula.

Brands have taken this on board in different ways. HerbalGem, Jolly Mama and Terravita split their range by period, Nutri&Co focuses its formula on menopause, and Dynveo specialises in a single ingredient, myo-inositol.

What female hormonal balance actually means

The menstrual cycle relies on the alternation of two hormones, oestrogen and progesterone, over about 28 days. Their rhythm can be disrupted by stress, stopping contraception or, later on, the transition to menopause.

Perimenopause usually sets in a few years before periods stop. Cycles become irregular, sleep gets lighter and the first hot flushes may appear. In France, menopause occurs on average at around 51.

A supplement does not replace gynaecological follow-up. It accompanies a period of change, and its value depends on each woman’s situation. Plant-based options for hot flushes are covered in our natural hot flashes treatment guide.

HerbalGem: a bud formula for each stage

HerbalGem is a Belgian laboratory specialising in gemmotherapy, part of the Inula group. Gemmotherapy uses the bud or young shoot, meaning the plant at the very start of its growth, harvested in spring and then macerated.

The bud, a plant taken before it opens

The bud holds the resources the plant will need to develop. Gemmotherapy therefore extends herbal medicine, which works with the mature plant: leaf, flower or root. The main brands of the field are compared in our guide to the best gemmotherapy brands for beginners.

For women’s wellness, three plants recur in the HerbalGem range. The apple tree bud is associated with comfort during periods of hormonal change. Raspberry young shoots are traditionally linked to well-being during periods and at menopause. Lingonberry young shoots complete this trio after 45.

Three capsules for the menopause transition

StageComposition (capsule)Price for 30 days
PerimenopauseApple tree and grapevine buds, raspberry young shoots, black cohosh extract€24.50
MenopauseLingonberry young shoots, blackcurrant and hawthorn buds, red clover extract€25.95
PostmenopauseLingonberry, ginkgo and oak buds, maca root extract€24.50

Each box holds 30 capsules, taken in the morning with a large glass of water. Alcohol content stays below 0.1%, and the share of organic ingredients ranges from 67.5% (postmenopause) to 86.6% (perimenopause).

The perimenopause formula thus pairs buds with black cohosh, the plant recognised by European authorities for hot flushes. This choice may suit women who want a bud-based approach without giving up a better-documented extract.

Drops to build your own course

Apart from the capsules, apple tree and lingonberry buds and raspberry young shoots are sold on their own, in 30 ml bottles at 18.90 euros. Intake ranges from 5 to 15 drops a day, by mouth only, in a little water. Raspberry is indicated from the age of 13.

A drop complex for women over 50, sold at 19.90 euros, combines lingonberry, apple tree, blackberry, hawthorn and a sage tincture. These formats contain alcohol (35% vol.), which explains why capsules joined the range. Everything is grouped in HerbalGem’s feminine well-being range.

Terravita, Jolly Mama, Nutri&Co and Dynveo: four other approaches

Terravita, the sage and chasteberry pair at an accessible price

French brand Terravita sells its organic sage and chasteberry formula at 15.90 euros for 60 capsules, at one capsule a day. Each capsule provides 300 mg of sage extract and 30 mg of chasteberry extract. With two months per box, it is the lowest entry price in the panel.

Its menopause complex (21.90 euros for 30 days) takes a different route: pollen, dandelion, 40 mg of black cohosh, saffron and vitamin B6. The brand presents it as free from phytohormones.

Jolly Mama, adaptogens in two formats

Jolly Mama splits its range by life project. Péri support (34 euros a month, 2 capsules a day) targets perimenopause from 35 with shatavari, milk thistle, sage and 30 mg of saffron.

Pink balance is an organic red-fruit powder that combines maca (1.6 g), shatavari and B vitamins, including B6. It costs 30 euros for 15 days, or 55.20 euros for the 30-day size. The brand states its precautions for use transparently, to be validated with a healthcare professional.

Nutri&Co, the isoflavone menopause formula

Nutri&Co has opted for a single menopause formula, at 29.90 euros for a 30-day bottle. The two daily capsules provide 300 mg of fenugreek, 300 mg of red clover standardised to 60 mg of isoflavones and 40 mg of black cohosh.

For the cycle, the brand sells an as-needed menstrual comfort formula (19.90 euros) that combines PEA, magnesium and 60 mg of chasteberry.

Dynveo, pure myo-inositol

Dynveo specialises in pure myo-inositol, from 24.90 euros, as powder or 750 mg capsules. The brand recommends 1 to 2 g a day for everyday use and 3 to 4 g for women of childbearing age.

Myo-inositol is mostly sought for cycle regularity and when trying to conceive, much less for menopause. Jolly Mama and Terravita also sell it as powder, at 25 and 24.90 euros.

Black cohosh, chasteberry, inositol: what the authorities say

Supplements on the shelf do not all have the same regulatory backing. The European Medicines Agency assesses plants with traditional or well-established use, and two stand out for women’s health.

What the European Medicines Agency says In its monograph on black cohosh rhizome (Cimicifuga racemosa), revised in 2018, the EMA’s Committee on Herbal Medicinal Products recognises a “well-established use” for menopausal complaints such as hot flushes and excessive sweating in adult women. It advises consulting a doctor or pharmacist if discomfort persists or worsens. Source: EMA, European Union herbal monograph on Cimicifuga racemosa (L.) Nutt., rhizome, revision 1, 2018.

Chasteberry also has a European monograph, focused on premenstrual syndrome. Formulas containing it therefore mainly target the second half of the cycle, as explained in our comparison of PMS and menstrual comfort supplement brands.

On the nutrient side, Regulation (EU) No 432/2012 allows a single claim on the topic: vitamin B6 “contributes to the regulation of hormonal activity”. Neither maca, shatavari nor buds hold an approved claim to date.

Which supplement to choose for your profile

Irregular cycle or discomfort before periods

Chasteberry remains the best-documented plant for this phase, in a simple formula at Terravita. HerbalGem raspberry young shoots are a chasteberry-free alternative, in drops. Myo-inositol from Dynveo or Jolly Mama mainly concerns women trying to conceive.

First signs of perimenopause, around 45

HerbalGem perimenopause capsules combine buds and black cohosh in a single daily intake. Jolly Mama Péri support offers an original approach through adaptogens.

Established menopause and hot flushes

Three formulas include black cohosh: HerbalGem for perimenopause, Terravita and Nutri&Co for menopause. Nutri&Co adds 60 mg of isoflavones, while the HerbalGem menopause capsule adds red clover extract with blackcurrant and hawthorn buds. Our ranking of the best menopause supplements covers other brands on this need alone.

Looking for a long-term plant-based course

For those who prefer a bud-based approach with adjustable dosing, HerbalGem single-bud bottles let you build your own course. The wider overview of natural solution brands for female hormonal balance presents other approaches, from connected cycle tracking to micronutrition.

Good to know These formulas are not recommended during pregnancy and breastfeeding, and call for a doctor’s advice in case of hormonal treatment, contraception included. Periods that suddenly change rhythm or discomfort that worsens warrant a consultation. Precautions specific to buds are gathered in our article on gemmotherapy dangers and contraindications.

Frequently asked questions

Which supplement brand should you choose for female hormonal balance?

Five brands cover different needs. HerbalGem offers three distinct organic bud capsules for perimenopause, menopause and postmenopause (24.50 to 25.95 euros a month) and single buds in drops at 18.90 euros. Terravita relies on sage and chasteberry for under 8 euros a month, Jolly Mama on adaptogens such as shatavari and maca, Nutri&Co on red clover and black cohosh for menopause, and Dynveo on myo-inositol alone. The right choice depends first on the life stage: menstrual cycle, transition to menopause or afterwards.

Which ingredient is allowed to claim it regulates hormonal activity?

In the European Union, only vitamin B6 may carry the claim that it contributes to the regulation of hormonal activity, under Regulation (EU) No 432/2012. Terravita and Jolly Mama include it in some formulas. Plants, buds included, have no approved claim at this stage, which explains the cautious wording on labels.

How much does a month of hormonal balance supplement cost?

Prices recorded in October 2026 range from about 8 euros to 55.20 euros a month, depending on formats and durations covered (Terravita sage and chasteberry: 60 capsules for 15.90 euros). HerbalGem capsules cost 24.50 to 25.95 euros for 30 days, Nutri&Co Menopause 29.90 euros and Jolly Mama Péri support 34 euros.

How long should a course for female hormonal balance last?

Most brands work over three months. HerbalGem states a minimum of three months for its menopause formula, up to a year depending on needs, and Terravita advises three-month courses that can be repeated after a two to four week break. A first assessment is therefore rarely made before the third month.

Can you combine several hormonal balance supplements?

It is best not to stack two formulas containing the same plant, for example two products with black cohosh or chasteberry. A healthcare professional can help build a consistent combination, and their advice is expected in case of hormonal treatment, pregnancy or breastfeeding, situations in which these formulas are not recommended.
